Types of Braces

Orthodontist Boca Raton

At Goldenberg Orthodontics, we’re always using the most cutting-edge orthodontic technology. That means we’re able to offer you a host of different options when it comes to braces. Although many people still have metal braces, these days, clear braces have become popular with adults and teens who feel self-conscious about their appearance. Invisalign’s virtually invisible removable aligners are another alternative to achieve straight teeth. We are here to help you find the right treatment option that fits your lifestyle.

Metal Braces

Metal braces are traditional and are still commonly used today. However, modern metal braces are much more comfortable and smaller than those used in the past, being made from space-age high-grade metal alloys. If you choose metal braces, you’re able to choose colored elastics to give your smile a colorful, unique look.

Ceramic Braces

A ceramic brace is made from clear materials. Therefore, it will be much less visible than a metal brace. Adults and teenage patients with aesthetic concerns often choose ceramic braces, however they are larger than metal braces so oral hygiene requires special attention. Ceramic brackets are also more fragile. You may also find that discoloration may occur to the elastic ties between visits to the orthodontist if you smoke or eat certain foods.

Invisible Braces

There are some clear appliances available today including Invisalign. These use several removable, comfortable and invisible aligners to help your teeth to become straighter. Since these aligners can be removed, you can drink and eat anything you like during your treatment and flossing and brushing is easier too. Since these aligners are very comfortable and contain no metal, mouth abrasions won’t occur during your treatment.

Lingual Braces

These braces are invisible and are an excellent alternative for patients who aren’t suitable for Invisalign aligners. They are placed behind the teeth and are made with cutting-edge technology, being customized 100% to your own teeth. Lingual braces will be made to your unique prescription so you can achieve the perfect result, giving you effective and efficient tooth movement without compromising on aesthetics.
